Natural Healing Ways is a San Francisco Bay Area alternative health clinic specializing in Chinese and Naturopathic medicine treatments including: Common Cold, Depression, Diabetes, Endometriosis, Fibromyalgia, Hay Fever, IBS, Insomnia, Low Back Pain, Menopause, Menstrual Problem, Migraines, and TMJ.
Using acupuncture and herbs, traditional Chinese Medicine can treat ailments and balance states of mind. It can also enhance power, immunity, and the capacity for pleasure, work, and creativity.
Claudia Weitkemper is rare among medical professionals: A licensed nurse, she not only believes in and provides conventional care, but also uses complementary therapies, including acupuncture, to help her patients. Also rare is that she always seemed to know what her calling was. Raised in Germany, she studied phytotherapy (called naturopathy in the U.S.) in high school, and at the age of 17 ordered a package of gold and silver acupuncture needles. “I started practicing on myself,” she recalls. “My mom and grandparents were tailors, so I was around needles a lot,” she adds, laughing.
Weitkemper has a sense of humor, but the conditions she treats are serious indeed. She specializes in gynecology and female endocrinology (menopause, infertility, and menstrual problems), as well as emotional disorders, pain, and asthma.
“I use therapeutic tools including lifestyle counseling, saliva hormone testing, hair analysis, and heavy metal detoxification programs to empower my patients’ physical and mental wellbeing and to prevent illness.” Weitkemper is a national and California licensed acupuncturist who received a Master of Science degree in traditional Chinese medicine, a nursing degree, and a naturopathic doctor degree. She has worked as a health care practitioner for more than 20 years — eight as a registered nurse.
Mindy Swanson, one of Weitkamp’s patients, calls her a potent healer. “Through her excellent skills as an acupuncturist, her strong knowledge of herbs and Chinese medicine and her previous experience in other modalities, I feel confident in her care,” says Swanson. “She has nurtured my health through pregnancy and postpartum, helping me deal with problems such as back pain, recovering from childbirth and mastitis and all with truly satisfying results.”
Weitkemper’s practice, Natural Healing Ways, is located in Albany, where she says she provides not only health care, but also a relaxing environment. Her goal is to create an even more holistic practice. “I want to create an integrative health and wellness center with different practitioners such as chiropractors and massage therapists, all in one beautiful center.” If her track record is any indication, there’s little doubt that she will realize her dream.
